Best music to listen to during an intense workout.

To all the New Year Resolutionist

I fucking hate the beginning and end of January. Wait. Hold that thought. Forget that I said fucking. The word fuck has a connotation too strong and is used too often. Fuck, where was I at? -_-

Oh, right.

I genuinely hate the beginning and end of January. There are way too many New Year Resolutionist (people with an idealistic resolution) wandering about in the 24 Hour Fitness building. I’m not exactly saying that their goal is unachievable. But what I am saying is that it takes more than just showing up to the gym. Now compared to the die hard regulars who take advantage of their membership 24/7, I know I’m not in the best shape. But thats compared to them. And to be quite frank, I workout at 3x a week and I know for a fact that I’m fit for all things considered; age, height, and weight.

Anyway, let’s not digress from what’s important here. If you have a workout plan and hope to get it done under an hour or two that’s great. Solid. Stick to it. However, If you don’t have a plan, then make way for the people who do. Now I’ve taken days to research what’s good for my body. I’ve been to Wikipedia, Youtube (my coach, Omar Isuf), and all sorts of legitimate websites that are made for bodybuilding and dieting. Believe me when I say, I’ve done my fair share of extensive research. I know what’s good for me. What’s not. So I don’t need your pretentious looks— I’ve got this.

Oh and to the dude in the red Nike sweatshirt who has a habit of walking in front of me while I bench, don’t pretend to look for that 37 lb. dumb-bell. Trust me bro, It doesn’t exist. You’re distracting me and others by taking unnecessarily long trips to the weight rack and back. I get it, though. You want change; we all do. But change doesn’t come easy. No she doesn’t. Change isn’t the name of a gorgeous, young woman who is going to come knocking on your front door. No sir. But if you ever meet Change, then shit. I have you mistaken.

Research what physical exercise you want to do before arriving to the gym. Whether if it’s burning some calories, toning muscle, or weight training. And if that’s too difficult of a task then hire a professional to teach you. Don’t just sit down on the inclined bench press station and check yourself out. No one is taking pictures and this definitely isn’t a photo shoot. Those flat arms you’re flexing in the mirrored wall can only give you a slight outline of muscle due to the dim lighting. But on the real, it takes months to bulk up. Not just a few reps. Or a few sets and several reps. It takes time.

In short, keep your head up. Especially when you’re doing those squats. I’m not here to soil your plans and aspirations. I’m here to blog. And of course, I’m proud that the fluffy people of America have decided to turn over a new leaf.
